When Blackridge Geospatial was founded, the drone mapping industry had a problem that nobody was talking about: the data was getting better, but the analysis was not keeping up.
Drone sensors were improving rapidly. Processing software was producing higher-quality imagery and point clouds. But the deliverables were still, fundamentally, imagery — beautiful, accurate imagery that clients received and then had to figure out what to do with.
We built Blackridge to solve a different problem: not "how do we capture better data?" but "how do we turn that data into decisions?"
The Gap Between Data and Intelligence
Consider a construction site survey. A standard drone mapping company delivers:
- High-resolution aerial imagery
- GeoTIFF files
- Maybe a point cloud
The client receives these files and then needs to:
- Open them in GIS software

We built a proprietary AI analysis platform that takes drone data as input and produces structured intelligence outputs — not raw files, but answers.
For a construction site, instead of delivering raw imagery and leaving the analysis to the client, we deliver:
- Change detection report — a structured comparison showing what has changed since the last survey
- Condition assessment — a classification of site areas by status and condition
- Progress assessment — a comparison to the project schedule showing which areas are ahead and which are behind

Why Off-the-Shelf Tools Were Not Enough
We evaluated every major off-the-shelf analysis platform before deciding to build our own. The limitations were consistent:
